I'd like to begin this one with a writing from a fellow raver. Do It Anyway Written By Mother Theresa People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered; Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, People may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; Be kind anyway. If you are successful, You will win some false friends and some true enemies; Succeed anyway. If you are honest and frank, People may cheat you; Be honest and frank anyway. What you spend years building, Someone could destroy overnight; Build anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, They may be jealous; Be happy anyway. The good you do today, People will often forget tomorrow; Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have, And it may never be enough; Give the world the best you've got anyway. You see, in the final analysis, It is between you and God; It was never between you and them anyway. Mother Theresa's words ring as true as any could. Here is captured the essence of leading a meaningful life. How could it be any other way? In a world where most people live for themselves, where concern for other people is almost nonexistant, where ruthlessness and selfishness are the order of the day, people who actually bother to be kind will be trampled underfoot and abused. But they wouldn't have it any other way. They would rather be vulnerable. Because they know it's better than the alternative. Do you think that if you are nice to everyone, if you are always helpful and considerate to everyone, that they will appreciate it and return the favor? Don't delude yourself; Although such may be the case, more often your kindnesses will go forgotten. But that's not the point. The satisfaction of being a good person is not in receiving gain for yourself. Rather, it's in knowing that you've done the right thing, and that when your life is over, you've done something good with it instead of wasting it on yourself. In the end, if you do the best you can do, it will be the most anyone can ask for, even though it will not be nearly enough. Do it anyway.
